Two girls are believed to have been abducted by their father in Hanford, Kings County after their mother was found fatally shot.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday in the search for man sought in the killing of a woman in Central California.

Two children kidnapped by their father after he allegedly shot and killed their mother have been found safe, per the King's County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives believe [the suspect] left the residence ... with two female children he shared with the victim, ages 2 and 3,” police said in a statement.

Deputies are looking for 23-year-old Jonathan Alexis Maldonado-Cruz of Hanford who alleged shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and took two children with him. An Amber Alert was issued. The victim and suspect are the parents of the two children though they are ex-girlfriend and ex-boyfriend, Mazza said.
