Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette  believes his responsibility is to the group as a whole rather than individuals

It has been a tough stretch for Jimmy Vesey with the New York Rangers, there’s no doubt about that. Vesey has not played in a game since Jan. 11 as it’s all beginning to take a toll on the veteran forward.

After Jimmy Vesey told The Post’s Larry Brooks on Thursday that he “feels like I have no role or purpose” on the Rangers, head coach Peter Laviolette said Friday he speaks with individual players consistently — including Vesey — and hasn’t ruled out playing him or anyone else.
