Blue Jays to Sign Max Scherzer to One-Year Contract
MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported Thursday that the Blue Jays are signing right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer to a one-year deal worth $15.5 million. At 40 years old, Scherzer was one of the top remaining starting pitchers available in free agency.

Scherzer, who was with the Tigers from 2010-14, joins a rotation that is fronted by Kevin Gausman, José Berríos and Chris Bassitt. The Blue Jays also have Bowden Francis coming off an impressive rookie season and Yariel Rodríguez, who signed a $32 million, five-year contract last February.
