A federal judge in Boston will consider a request from 18 states to block President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for the children of parents who are in the U.S. illegally.

A second federal judge on Wednesday blocked President Donald Trump’s executive order that seeks to end birthright citizenship, saying it’s likely unconstitutional and “runs counter to our nation’s 250-year history of citizenship by birth.

U.S. District Judge Leo Sorokin pressed the government about long-standing U.S. Supreme Court precedent that the 14th Amendment ensures citizenship for anyone born in the United States.
