Idaho mountains are getting heavy snowfall — great for ski resorts but bad news in terms of possible avalanches.

Freezing rain is in the forecast Wednesday afternoon and evening in the Milwaukee area while a wintry mix is expected north of Port Washington.

The southern half of Lower Michigan could have a six hour period of moderate freezing rain. The northern half of Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula will likely just have snow.

Forecasters are tracking the potential for a winter storm Wednesday night into Thursday that could include a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and snow for New Jersey. The bulk of the precipitation is expected along and northwest of the Interstate 95 corridor, according to the National Weather Service

Sleet should accumulate around an inch which can cause travel issues on its own, but our primary concern is for freezing rain. Freezing rain begins falling in the middle of the night and will continue up until sunrise on Thursday morning.
