Shuai vs Judo is something I can't do much of a technical breakdown on; Sanda vs Muay Thai is more up my wheelhouse. Sanda is much faster paced due to rounds lasting only two minutes. It's also more point-based rather than knockout-based, so to speak (not that KO victories don't happen in Sanda or point victories don't happen for MT).

2022年9月12日 · Sanda has more emphasis on leg catches but the biggest difference is the incorporation of Shuai Jiao. It has Wrestling. Muay Thai's predecessors had more wrestling than present Muay Thai. Sanda does have elbows here and there but their mentality is "Too close to kick, punch them.

2021年9月11日 · Whether Sanda should be considered a style of Kung-fu or an expression of it is a different (and much more semantic) matter, but Sanda was created by Kung-fu pratictioners, for the explicit purpose of improving pressure testing standards in Kung-fu gyms, and is trained almost exclusively at said Kung-fu gyms.

Sanda World (散打天下) and Glory of Heroes (勇士的荣耀) are the two major professional leagues for Sanda and they're both less rich and less well-known than WLF or KF are. That reduces the appeal of becoming a professional Sanda fighter for people, even if the university/amateur Sanda scene in China is healthy.

Kickboxing as a definite sport wasn't even a thing when the CCP was putting together its Sanda curriculums in the 60s and the foreign influences in Sanda are openly acknowledged as being boxing, karate, Muay Thai and TKD for jabs and uppercuts, roundhouse kicks, push kicks and various jumping/spinning kicks respectively.
